GUIDELINES
We’re looking for stories between 5,000 and 8,000 words that are narratively satisfying. Your story should stand alone as a full and completed work.
Please send your story as a .doc or .pdf attachment to info@loosetooth.press. Format the subject line as YOUR NAME – STORY TITLE. In the body of your email, please include a brief cover letter with a bio and the word count of your piece.
Previously published material is acceptable, as long as any exclusivity period has passed. Please submit only one story to us at a time, and let us know immediately if your story has been accepted elsewhere and you are withdrawing it.
We also accept contemporary short fiction in translation. Please provide the original author’s bio and language, and ensure you have permission to translate and publish the work. Please don’t submit a story that has been previously translated to English.
We pay writers a portion of the profits from their book sales.
We will consider submitted manuscripts on a rolling basis until Jan 15 for publication in 2026. Please refrain from inquiring about the status of your submission until 3 months have passed. We will do our best to get back to everyone in a timely manner.
